Twitter Experiments
I’m thinking about trying to use Twitter again. The challenge is to minimize its toxicity. Here are the steps I’ve taken.
- I deleted all my old Tweets. From now on, tweets will live up on Twitter for 30 days, and after then be deleted. There is an archive of my writing at 500Words and I can be found on Micro.blog as well.
- I unfollowed anybody I would rather not hear from, even if they follow me back.
My reasoning is that Twitter should be ephemeral. Most of what I post there is just “of the moment” and not worth much even a day later. I’m being generous with myself, allowing Tweets to hang out for 30 days. My writing archive is where things are intended to last. I want to put more focus there.
I hope to enjoy a few posts from positive people, or be notified when someone I know publishes something longer.
I’m trying Tweetdelete.net to auto-delete Twitter posts and iunfollow to clean up my feed.
